The Tales of Einarinn

I started writing this series because I was wondering if anyone else wanted to read fantasy with characters who had lives of their own, whose personal concerns were going to be at least as important to them as whatever epoch-shattering events they might be caught up in.

How about a fantasy world where politics and religion and sex are part of everydaylife, rather than cosmos-shaping forces? What about a fantasy world with change and progression, where there are developments in science and technology, philosophy and literature, quite independently of whatever it is that has wizards and princes running round in circles?

This is the world of The Tales of Einarinn

    Hi!

So I read through the first two Einarinn books and part of the third about 9 years ago. I absolutely LOVED them! I’ve been keeping an eye out in bookstores for them and can never find them. I just got a NOOK, and was wondering if you would be putting that series for sale in a digital format. Readers can’t help but be pulled into the world and invested in the complex characters you’ve created. I just saw that you’ve written another series, and I can’t wait to sink my teeth into it. :)

So glad you enjoy the books :)

Electronic versions? Short answer – yes, we’re working on that and The Thief’s Gamble should be out soon with the other titles following, hopefully one every couple of months.

For the considerably longer version, explaining all the challenges and mysteries of getting a backlist out as ebooks, check out the blog posts beginning http://www.julietemckenna.com/?p=840

      Happy reading – whatever you’re reading :)

Is book 5 the end of the Tales of Einarinn? I hope not, as it is one of the best fantasy series that I’ve read in a long time. Say it ain’t so!

    Wonderful Books!

Thank you kindly for brightening up my Monday morning with your enthusiasm :)

Assassin’s Edge is the end of that particular story arc, involving Livak, Ryshad and Temar. Though you might like to check out the ebook A Few Further Tales of Einarinn which gathers together some short fiction featuring the two of them, and other characters from the Tales. Want to know exactly why Sorgrad and Gren are out for Arle Cordainer’s blood?

The Aldabreshin Compass sequence is primarily set in the Archipelago, with new central characters but continuing in the same time line, and some folk from the Tales, notably Dev and Velindre, find themselves involved.

Likewise, The Chronicles of the Lescari Revolution sees new people tackling that benighted realm’s troubles, and existing characters naturally play a part. If you want confidential information and maybe some help from mercenaries, who else are you going to ask but Charoleia, Sorgrad and Gren?

The Hadrumal Crisis sees the consequences of events throughout all these three series challenging Archmage Planir. Once again, you’ll see new folk faced with new challenges and familiar faces turning up as the obvious people to play their part, striving for a solution.

So the answer to your question is really, yes, and no!
