July 10th. Chaz Brenchley and I will be at Aylesbury Library, tackling the question, "Fantasy: is just Dragons, Elves and Silly Names?" from 8-9.30 pm

June 27th-29th. I'm taking part in this year's Winchester Writing Conference, where I'll be running a workshop on writing SF&F and there'll also be a few opportunities for one-on-one consultations.

Looking ahead, I'll be at Gamefest 3, Tring, 4th October and at NewCon 4, Northampton, 11th-12th October 2008.

15th November, I'll be running a creative writing workshop for Wokingham Library, along with Chaz Brenchley.

There'll be more to come, particularly on The Write Fantastic calendar, so check back for updates.

Book Dates

I'm now working on a trilogy focusing on the Lescari Revolution for Solaris. The first volume, Irons in the Fire, will be published simultaneously in the UK and the US in the spring of 2009. I'm currently writing the second book, Blood in the Water.

My story The Wizard's Coming is currently available in The Solaris Book of New Fantasy, which has been received enthusiastically by reviewers on both sides of the Atlantic, in the genre press and more widely. According to The Guardian newspaper, editor George Mann "has collected 16 entertaining stories that should cater for all the varied tastes of fantasy aficionados."

I seem to be having something of a short story year. You'll be able to read Walking Shadows, my contribution to the DAW anthology Imaginary Friends from September 2008.

I've also delivered a short story Noble Deceit for the forthcoming NewCon Press anthology, Subterfuge. This will be launched at NewCon4, in October 2008.
